Iverson Tyres supports school charity fun day

fokl funday 2014 1North- and west-London based Point S member Iverson Tyres went back to school recently, providing vital support to help put on a very special family fun day that raised more than £8,500 for Kennel Lane School in Bracknell. The event was organised by Friends of Kennel Lane, whose chair, Iverson Tyres director Jon Powell, said: “Our aim is to raise funds to buy things that will benefit this wonderful school and its students. In the past we’ve bought a minibus, goal posts, basketball hoops, musical instruments, computers, TVs and DVD players and soft outdoor pathways.”

This year’s family fun day was declared open by VIP guests, deputy Mayor of Bracknell Cllr Andy Blatchford and deputy Lady Mayoress Ann Blatchford.

Attractions for visitors included arts and craft stalls, games stands featuring darts, golf, hook-a-duck and a coconut shy, plus go karts and a 45ft inflatable obstacle course. The event was also supported by displays from Thames Valley Police, the British Association of German Shepherds’ Camberley branch, with arena entertainment from local band Blind Panic and Bracknell Zumba performer Vicki Tallent – not to mention the student band and gymnastic team.
Prizes galore were on offer in children’s and adults’ tombolas, as well as a main raffle with the star giveaway of a brand new laptop.

Jon Powell concluded: “I’m grateful to Point S for its generous assistance in putting on a great fun day for 2014, while our main sponsor the Shanley Foundation donated an amazing £2,000, which topped up more than £6,500 raised on the day to bring the total to a record of over £8,500!”
