In case you hadn’t noticed, autumn is officially here. Not only does this mean that the leaves are falling from the trees, the nights are getting darker earlier and thermostats are being turned up across the land, but it also means that October’s Tyre Safety Month is here.Run by not-for-profit road safety organisation TyreSafe, Tyre Safety Month is reminding drivers about the importance of regularly checking their tyre tread depth. It’s a fantastic campaign, as members of TyreSafe, it’s one we’re proud to be supporting wholeheartedly.

Current UK law requires car tyres to have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread, although a tyre’s performance does decrease as its tread gets less so it’s a good idea to replace your tyres before they reach this limit.

There’s a quick and easy way to check if your tyres have sufficient tread depth using a 20p coin. You can find out more about this by visiting here.

Of course, you can also pop into your nearest Point S outlet who are all supporting Tyre Safety Month by offering free tyre checks throughout October. Keep an eye out for many of our teams who are also linking up with local road safety teams and holding events offering free safety checks in the community.
Remember, safe tyres save lives.
