A beautiful Chateau positioned in a landscaped garden, overlooking the surrounding area.
Arts is also a large part of the estate.

Went today and gave to agree with most . The castle is amazing beautiful from the outside gardens walking up are staggering. Inside the beautiful chateau they have turned rooms into strange paintings of modernist art which doesn’t fit in with the house . Not enough about who and when the house was don’t . Stop with trying to look funky it just screams awful 😞. The small gardens with themes are strange to say the least and it just seems it’s trying to hard to be young and modernist . We will try to come back next year see if things have changed . Lovely chateau but get rid of the terrible art .

The Chateau at Chaumont-sur-Loire is excellent, compact but beautiful outside and the displays on the interior were much better than I expected. I can take or leave the modern art displays, a few were interesting and some seemed to me to detract from the Chateau. However, everything is superbly arranged, with excellent information in different languages (English & German included). Stunning gardens, again some of the art is odd but each to their own. Do not miss the excellent stables.

I actually much preferred our visit here to Chateau Chambord.

For cyclists there are ample lock up points an lockers to leave your kit (2€ coin required).

A very peaceful place and far less overcrowded than many of the more famous châteaux. I noticed that some visitors mentioned being disappointed by the amount of contemporary art, but personally I found the combination of historic charm and modern elements very well balanced, even though I am not usually a great admirer of contemporary art myself.

We also wanted to visit the village down the hill, and since there are two entrances to the estate, the staff kindly explained that we were free to leave and return at any time. They provided us with special bracelets for easy re-entry, which was a very thoughtful touch.
