Exclusive Continental OE Fitment: A Premium Opportunity for the Point S Network

We are delighted to share some fantastic news from our long-standing premium partner, Continental. Highlighting their unmatched reputation in the EV sector, Continental has secured the exclusive global original equipment (OE) fitment for the brand-new, all-electric Renault Twingo. For our Point S members, this represents a brilliant opportunity to support a new generation of EV drivers with premium, factory-approved replacements.

Here is the official release detailing the advanced tech behind this exclusive fitment:

New Electric Renault Twingo Fitted Exclusively with Continental Tyres as Standard

•    French vehicle manufacturer approves Continental’s 18-inch EcoContact 7 for the new all-electric Renault Twingo worldwide
•    Original equipment tyre delivers high efficiency and low rolling noise
•    Key tyre technologies include Smart Energy Casing, Aerodimple and Silent Pattern

Renault’s new Twingo is now fitted with original equipment tyres from Continental as standard worldwide. The latest generation of the all-electric compact car is rolling off the production line equipped exclusively with the 18-inch Continental EcoContact 7. The 18-inch tyre has earned top ratings on the EU tyre label for energy efficiency and rolling noise. It therefore meets key requirements that manufacturers place on tyres for electric vehicles today: low rolling resistance to help maximise driving range and low rolling noise for a quieter, more pleasant driving experience.

The EcoContact 7’s high energy efficiency is due to a new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology. This technology uses new materials in the tyre’s carcass, liner and sidewall to reduce internal friction and lower rolling resistance. Additionally, the tyre’s aerodynamically optimised sidewall design enhances efficiency. Continental has combined several technologies to achieve this, including the “Aerodimple” structure inspired by golf balls. Dimples in the sidewall reduce air turbulence behind the tyre, meaning the vehicle requires less energy to keep the tyre moving.

Continental has also focused on quiet driving, with the newly developed Silent Pattern tread design reducing rolling noise. Developers optimised the spacing and angles of the tread blocks to align with the noise frequencies typically generated at low speeds when driving in urban areas. As a result, the tyre contributes to a quieter ride – for vehicle occupants and local residents.

This tyre line has been approved for the new Renault Twingo in the following size in numerous countries including the UK and Ireland:
EcoContact 7, 205/45 R18 90H XL FR
